Job summary

Farm Bureau Financial Services seeks a Commercial Underwriting Manager to lead the underwriting field force and promote profitable growth. The role centers on directing staff development, aligning operations in Iowa and Minnesota, and ensuring accurate coverage decisions and premium collection.

The ideal candidate has seven+ years in insurance with underwriting leadership experience; CPCU/CIC is preferred, and travel may be required. Strong communication and stakeholder relations are essential.

Qualifications

• College degree or equivalent required with seven+ years of relevant insurance experience.
• Underwriting/claims/insurance experience preferred.
• CPCU or CIC designation preferred.
• Must stay current with commercial underwriting trends.

Responsibilities

• Define, implement and monitor a client service strategy aligned with the Company’s mission.
• Partner with leaders to align Commercial operations across Iowa and Minnesota.
• Oversee staff development.
• Lead Commercial Marketing Underwriters in acceptability, modification and declinations of new business policies.
• Drive profitable growth through increased new business.
• Improve underwriting process efficiency to deliver high-quality service.
• Develop positive stakeholder relationships.
• Monitor legislative developments and state regulations.
• Collaborate with claims to interpret intent of commercial coverage and provide documentation.
