Job summary

South Texas College in McAllen, TX seeks a seasoned Comptroller to oversee the college’s financial operations, directing the Business Office and Cashier Office to ensure accurate accounting, reporting, budgeting and cash management.

The role requires leadership, GAAP/GASB expertise, and the ability to coordinate audits, maintain internal controls, and deliver timely financial information to stakeholders.

A CPA and a strong track record in higher education finance are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA preferred.
• At least ten years of related professional experience in strategic leadership within finance.
• Minimum of four years overseeing accounting and reporting functions.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Financial operations of the Business Office and Cashier Office to ensure GAAP-compliant accounting and reporting.
• Provide strategic leadership and direction for budgeting, cash management, and financial reporting.
• Coordinate month- and year-end closing and external audits.
• Develop the college’s annual operating budget with input from stakeholders.
• Maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
