Job summary

Coahoma Community College seeks an experienced financial executive to supervise the college’s financial affairs, accounting, and reporting. This full-time, 12-month, non-exempt role directs the Business Office, payroll, investments, audits, budgeting, and related administrative functions under the President’s guidance.

Required qualifications include a CPA license and 5 years of senior-level financial leadership, plus a Master’s degree in accounting and proven supervisory ability.

Qualifications

• CPA license with 5 years of executive financial management experience.
• Master’s degree in accounting; accounting experience required; excellent supervisory and management skills.

Responsibilities

• Acts as purchasing agent in following the laws of Mississippi and college policies.
• Directs investment of funds.
• Cooperates and assists in the management of the physical plant.
• Determines priorities and implements programs to achieve high productivity levels and to provide management information.
• Directs and manages all personnel in the Business Office and related areas.
• Maintains payroll and files for all employees.
• Supervises auxiliary enterprises as assigned by the President.
• Institutes and maintains an inventory of all college property and equipment.
• Directs and carries out internal audits to meet and maintain proper accounting of all college finances and property.
• Develops systems and procedures to meet and maintain all current business requirements in the most efficient way possible.
• Prepares the proposed budget, working with the deans, directors and other administrative staff or personnel; assists the President in presenting the budgets to the Board of Trustees for approval.
• Monitors and makes reports to aid divisions in staying within their budgets.
• Prepares financial reports as required; apprises the President and Board of Trustees of the financial condition of the college.
• Follows the accounting manual for Mississippi Junior Colleges MCPA and NACLTBO procedures and modifies accounting Systems to comply with changes.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the President.
