Job summary

DLA Piper is seeking a Managing Director to support the firm’s strategic initiatives and improve key client relationships.

Based in one of our offices (Washington DC, Baltimore, Boston, New York, Northern Virginia, Philadelphia, or Short Hills) with a hybrid schedule, the role oversees matter and financial management, operational leadership, and strategic planning to optimize performance and client outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies, Finance, Business Administration, or similar field.
• JD preferred.
• 10+ years of legal/law firm experience in practice management.

Responsibilities

• Oversee matter opening, budgeting, and compliance with client guidelines.
• Monitor WIP, billing, collections, and profitability metrics for portfolio.
• Coordinate with billing teams for timely, accurate invoicing.
• Track and report on KPIs, identify risks and opportunities.
• Lead a multi-disciplinary team to deliver client service and operational excellence.
