Job summary

Meijer, a multi-state retailer, is seeking a Category Merchandiser to partner with Buyers in setting assortment, pricing, promotion, and planograms to meet customer expectations and financial targets.

You will visit stores, analyze market information, collaborate on financial planning, and negotiate with vendors to optimize markdowns and pricing while maintaining Meijer's pricing integrity across categories.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• 2+ years of experience in retail industry preferred.
• Experience in buying, inventory or analysis preferred.
• Knowledge of the market, retail business and customers.
• Knowledge of business drivers (e.g. pricing, promotion, assortment).
• Planning skills and strong negotiations abilities.
• Proficiency with standard office software; MS Office familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Drive the strategic direction of categories to meet division goals.
• Visit stores to understand assortments, pricing and presentation.
• Use market information to anticipate trends and drive item selection.
• Collaborate with Buyer and Merchandise Planning to develop the financial plan.
• Negotiate with vendors for markdown support or returns.
• Determine pricing strategy and promotions for category/product.
• Review pricing analytics with Pricing Coordinator.
• Develop master and version planograms.
• Collaborate on inventory to support promotional strategy.
