Job summary

Clarksons in Bethesda is seeking a talented Broker to join our team. You will be responsible for negotiating and fixing spot cargoes on various routes and allocating contract cargoes to assigned ships to maximize financial results.

You will collaborate with vessel owners, government and commercial clients to coordinate the shipment of humanitarian, military, and project cargoes while driving revenue and developing a client base.

Qualifications

• Previous experience with broking is required.
• US Flag or Jones Act experience is required.
• Exposure to working with government agencies is advantageous.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Drive revenue and develop client base.
• Market tonnage to customers/shippers/charterers.
• Negotiate spot/time charters to maximize income for owners.
• Prepare and submit offers to US Government agencies.
• Coordinate with chartering and operation departments to maximize voyage results.
• Maintain voyage records and documentation for tonnage loading.
