Job summary

Worcester County Government Center is seeking a highly skilled professional to manage new building construction and major renovation projects for county facilities and grounds. The role reports to the Deputy Director of Public Works and oversees design, permitting, budgets, bidding, meetings, schedules, construction activity, inspection and close-out.

Ideal candidates will have extensive experience with large projects, strong budgeting acumen, and knowledge of applicable codes and regulations.

Qualifications

• Ten years of large construction project management experience.
• Ten years of budget preparation and execution experience.
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal design/construction regulations.
• Familiarity with 2021 International Building Code and 2017 NEC.
• Experience with permitting processes.
• Willingness to work on roofs or elevated surfaces.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all phases of county building projects including design, permitting, budgets, bidding, schedules and close-out.
• Coordinate with consultants on bid specifications for architectural, civil, structural or MEP design.
• Collaborate with facilities managers, engineers, architects, contractors and staff to meet project requirements.
• Prepare meeting minutes, updated schedules and progress reports.
• Provide financial summaries of expenditures for Deputy Director review.
• Ensure compliance with policies and regulations and resolve budget/schedule issues.
