Job summary

Peninsula Metropolitan Park District seeks a Capital Projects Manager to lead complex park projects from inception through close-out, ensuring timely, on-budget delivery. Responsibilities include budgeting, contract administration, grants, and coordination of design teams across phases.

The role requires a strong background in public works, PMP (preferred), and superior communication skills to report to the Board and collaborate with staff, contractors, and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Five years of progressively responsible project management experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in project management, civil engineering, or a related field; or seven years of progressively responsible project management experience or closely related experience.
• Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) (preferred).
• Knowledge of public works projects and regulatory codes.
• Excellent written, listening, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to coordinate work and deadlines with a team emphasis.

Responsibilities

• Plans, supervises, and coordinates the activities, operations, and schedule of assigned projects. Ensures timely, accurate, and cost-effective completion of projects.
• Manages the budget preparation and management for assigned projects and processes invoices per policy.
• Coordinates professional and technical staff at each project phase with a team approach.
• Performs grants administration and project estimating; designs and implements project agreements.
• Procures outside resources and provides contract administration.
• Develops project specifications and reviews design plans for conformance; prepares contracts and conducts pre-bid conferences.
• Monitors progress and conducts meetings to resolve issues; provides status updates.
• Manages Owner activities such as fixtures, furnishings, and equipment; consultant solicitation and selection.
• Directs investigations and resolutions of claims from contractors or property owners.
• Maintains design, construction, and engineering records as required by regulations.
• Prepares and delivers professional reports to the Board, staff, consultants, contractors, stakeholders, and the public.
• Develops professional relationships with internal and external customers.
• Takes responsibility for delivering results and maintaining an inclusive work environment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
