Job summary

Albany State University seeks a Director of Emergency Management to develop, implement, and maintain campus-wide safety plans, policies, and procedures to mitigate risks and respond to disasters.

The role leads emergency operations, coordinates training and drills, ensures compliance with safety regulations (Clery Act/NIMS), and liaises with local public safety agencies. A Bachelor's degree and 3–5 years of related experience are required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Develops and updates the University Comprehensive Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) and conducts vulnerability assessments.
• Coordinates campus-wide preparedness activities, training programs for staff, and simulations (e.g., active shooter drills).
• Directs the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) during crises, coordinates with campus security, and handles post-disaster damage assessments.
• Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations; acts as the primary liaison with fire, police, and emergency management agencies.
• Manages emergency communication systems and develops educational materials for students/staff.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
