Job summary

IDEX in Shelby, NC is hiring a Buyer to source, negotiate, and purchase materials to meet operational needs. This on-site role collaborates with Sourcing, Planning, Engineering, Quality, Operations, Customer Service, and Product Management to ensure material availability and supplier performance.

The Buyer will issue POs, expediting orders, analyze MRP signals, manage supplier lead times, and resolve delivery or quality issues while maintaining strong supplier relationships.

Qualifications

• Understanding of supply chain processes including procurement, logistics, planning and inventory management.
• Proficiency with procurement software, ERP systems, and reporting tools; JD Edwards (JDE) preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with data-driven decision making.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage procurement activities, including issuing purchase orders, expediting orders, resolving discrepancies, and maintaining supplier commitments.
• Evaluate and analyze buy signals generated by MRP systems; experience with JD Edwards (JDE) preferred.
• Collaborate with Planning to support material availability and production planning to meet business demands.
• Manage supplier lead times, expedite shortages, and support inventory optimization through MRP recommendations.
• Coordinate supplier quality, delivery and nonconformance issues with internal teams and suppliers to minimize disruption.
