Job summary

F McConnell and Sons, Inc. is seeking a detail‑oriented Buyer to manage purchase activities from assigned vendors in an in‑office Indiana setting.

You will load new items, coordinate with Marketing and Merchandising, and maintain pricing and vendor data to ensure product availability and cost control. Responsibilities include reviewing stock reports daily, expediting POs, managing promotional allowances, and producing quarterly category cubes to support retail decisions.

Qualifications

• Experience in retail purchasing.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Purchase Assigned Vendors.
• Daily Review Reports #112 (Out of Stock Report), #165 (Buyer Low Stock Warning Report).
• New Item Setup.
• Coordinate New Item Information with Marketing and Merchandising.
• Load Promotional Allowances/Deals.
• Item Price Change Maintenance.
• Vendor Maintenance - Keep vendor notes and information updated.
• Maintain strong vendor relationships to ensure product availability, cost control and service levels.
• Trace & Expedited POs.
• Coordinate Backhauls with Operations.
• Manage Vendor Returns.
• Create Category Cubes / Quarterly Reports.
• Work with Merchandising Manager concerning Retailer Accruals.
• Work with Vendors to Alleviate Overstocks - Report #157 (Excess Inventory Report).
• Support Category reviews through reporting and item performance analysis.
