Job summary

Southern University at New Orleans is seeking a Bursar/Director of Student Accounts to lead billing, payments, receivables, and related financial compliance. You will collaborate with Finance, Financial Aid, Registrar, Enrollment Management, Athletics, Housing, IT, and other offices to improve processes and the student financial experience.

Reporting to the Comptroller, you will oversee daily operations, implement internal controls, and leverage Ellucian Banner and self-service tools to ensure

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance or related field with 3+ years in student financial services.
• Or an associate degree with 5+ years of relevant experience; or high school diploma with 7+ years.
• Experience supervising staff and managing student-account operations.

Responsibilities

• Direct daily operations of Student Accounts including billing, receivables, collections, and refunds.
• Ensure accurate assessment of tuition, fees, and other charges; maintain billing controls.
• Develop procedures and internal controls for accuracy and compliance.
• Monitor balances, aging, payment plans, and liaise with collection agencies.
• Lead Ellucian Banner usage and supervise AR Coordinator and student workers.
