Job summary

Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County is seeking a Management & Budget Analyst in the Department of Finance, Office of Management and Budget. You will assist in government-wide operating and budget development and support financial analysis to inform policy decisions.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and strong budgeting knowledge, with the ability to manage multiple tasks under deadlines and collaborate across divisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a financial, business administration, public administration, or related field.
• Additional experience in a related field may be considered In lieu of education.
• Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply.
• Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078 requires Tennessee residency within six months of employment.
• Experience with government-wide or complex operating budgets.
• Knowledge of general accounting principles.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiar with using Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to facilitate financial and policy analysis.
• Experience understanding, interpreting, and applying laws, policies, & grant requirements as far as they relate to budgetary issues.
• Experience evaluating business processes and making recommendations for process improvements.

Responsibilities

• Develop operating and capital budgets with department heads and elected officials.
• Monitor and analyze financial affairs of complex departments and troubleshoot budget issues.
• Assist departments with budget requests and submission processes.
• Analyze department budget requests for accuracy, cost effectiveness, and compliance.
• Provide guidance on processes and help resolve compliance issues.
• Prepare estimates of department revenues and expenditures.
• Assist in government-wide operating budget development and management.
• Support documentation and development of existing systems and processes.
