Job summary

Brooklyn College of the City University of New York (CUNY) seeks an Executive Director for Budget to lead the College’s budgeting and resource strategy. This senior role directs the Budget Office, manages all-funds planning, and partners with college leadership to align budgets with strategic goals.

Responsibilities include staffing, systems oversight (CUNYWork and Adaptive Planning), forecasting, and communicating budget performance to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience.
• Master’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, public administration, data analytics or related field.
• Experience in budgeting, financial planning, accounting, or fiscal administration.
• Knowledge of CUNY financial policies, systems, funding structures, and administrative processes.
• Experience leading staff and managing budgets across funds.
• Ability to collaborate with executives and stakeholders.
• Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
• Experience with public-sector or higher-education funding structures.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain infrastructure for integrated, all-funds resource planning.
• Provide functional leadership for budget systems and planning tools.
• Ensure operating and capital budgets linked to institutional strategy.
• Oversee Budget Office operations and staff development.
• Develop revenue and expenditure assumptions and predictive budgeting.
• Direct execution and monitoring of operating budgets with college managers.
• Prepare and present reports on budgeting to campus stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Comptroller and HR/Payroll to reconcile data.
• Strengthen internal controls and budget practices.
• Resolve budget issues in compliance with laws.
• Other duties as assigned.
