Job summary

Brooklyn College, part of The City University of New York, seeks an Executive Director for Budget to lead budgeting and resource planning across all fund sources. The role reports to the Senior VP for Finance and Administration and directs the Budget Office with accountability for staff, systems, analyses, and institutional services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required with eight years of related budgeting/financial administration experience.
• Master’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, public administration, data analytics or related field.
• Extensive experience in budgeting, financial forecasting, multi-year planning, resource allocation, budget monitoring, and financial reporting.
• Knowledge of CUNY policies, systems, funding structures, and administrative processes.
• Proven leadership of staff while maintaining accuracy, service and accountability.
• Experience collaborating with senior executives, academic leaders, budget managers and affiliated entities.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and handle sensitive financial information with discretion.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain infrastructure for integrated, all-funds resource planning across Tax Levy, IFR, auxiliary enterprises, RF, Brooklyn College Foundation, Continuing Education, and related entities.
• Provide leadership for budget systems and planning tools (CUNYWork, Adaptive Planning).
• Ensure operating and capital budgets align with strategic/resource planning processes.
• Oversee Budget Office operations; supervise and develop staff.
• Develop revenue/expenditure assumptions and conduct predictive budget modeling.
• Direct execution and monitoring of operating budgets with department managers and senior leadership.
• Prepare and present reports on budgeting status to campus stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Comptroller, Student Financial Services, and HR/Payroll to reconcile data.
• Strengthen internal controls and budget practices; ensure compliance with requirements.
