Job summary

LLH Healthcare in Birmingham, Alabama seeks a Benefits Specialist to administer and continually improve employee benefit and retirement programs. You will partner with brokers, vendors, and HR leadership to ensure effective administration and clear communication with staff.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and analytical, delivering an exceptional employee experience while managing enrollments, 401(k) plan activities, audits, and compliance with ERISA/ACA regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
• Five+ years of progressive experience in employee benefits administration.
• Strong knowledge of health and welfare benefits, retirement plans, Open Enrollment, and benefits compliance.
• Experience administering 401(k) plans and coordinating Open Enrollment.
• Working knowledge of ERISA, COBRA, ACA, HIPAA, and related regulations.
• Experience with HRIS and benefits systems; ADP experience preferred.
• Strong Excel, reporting, and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
• Ability to handle confidential employee information with discretion.

Responsibilities

• Administer employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, voluntary benefits, and wellness programs.
• Manage enrollments, changes, qualifying life events, and terminations.
• Lead annual Open Enrollment activities from planning through implementation.
• Provide guidance on benefit questions and resolve related issues.
• Educate employees on benefits, eligibility, coverage options, and plan provisions.
• Develop benefit communications and enrollment resources.
