Arnold & Porter, a global law firm, seeks a Business Development Manager to support Bankruptcy & Restructuring, Tax, Private Client Services, Project Finance, and related transactional practices. The role may be based in our New York or Washington, DC offices and requires close collaboration with practice group leaders and attorneys to develop and execute BD strategies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum of six years in marketing and business development.
• Experience in law firm or professional services preferred.
• Experience supporting corporate, finance, restructuring, or related practices.
• Strong writing, editing, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage complex projects and competing priorities.
• Ability to build credibility with partners and senior stakeholders.
• Experience supervising and mentoring team members.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM tools.

Responsibilities

• Create and execute business development strategies for select transactional practices.
• Identify market trends, client opportunities, and cross-selling opportunities.
• Lead pitches, proposals, and RFP responses; communicate value proposition.
• Coach attorneys on BD best practices and client meetings.
• Develop and maintain business plans for growth objectives.
• Oversee practice descriptions, marketing collateral, and client materials.
• Manage league tables and databases of experience.
• Coordinate webinars, client events, and thought leadership.
• Lead submissions for directories and awards (e.g., Chambers).
• Identify sponsorships, conferences, and client presentations.
• Collaborate with Media Relations to promote matters and achievements.
• Support lateral integration with targeted client planning.
• Develop and manage budgets; evaluate ROI; use CRM for targeting.
• Supervise and mentor BD professionals; provide coverage across groups.
