Job summary

Arnold & Porter is seeking a Business Development Manager to support premier transactional practices including Bankruptcy & Restructuring, Tax, Private Client Services, Project Finance, Sovereign Finance, and Syndicated & Leveraged Finance. Based in New York or Washington, DC, the role partners with practice chairs to drive client growth, pitches, and market profile.

The Manager coordinates with attorneys and Marketing to deliver BD strategies, client engagement, and thought leadership

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum of six years of marketing and business development experience.
• Prior law firm, professional services, financial services, or investment banking experience preferred.
• Experience supporting corporate, finance, restructuring, tax, or related transactional practices strongly preferred.
• Strong writing, editing, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated success managing complex projects and competing priorities.
• Ability to build credibility and strong working relationships with partners and senior stakeholders.
• Experience supervising and mentoring team members.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; CRM platforms knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Business Development: develop and execute BD strategies for transactional practice areas with practice chairs and leaders.
• Pitches, Proposals & Client Engagement: lead client pitches, proposals, and RFP responses and coach attorneys.
• Marketing & Profile-Raising Initiatives: oversee creation of descriptions, collateral, league tables, events, and submissions.
• Lateral Integration & Client Development: support integration of lateral partners with targeted client planning.
• Data, Reporting & Budget Management: manage budgets and use CRM data for targeting and decision making.
• Team Leadership: supervise and mentor BD professionals and foster a collaborative culture.
