Job summary

Nevada State University is seeking an Associate Vice President of Human Resources (AVP-HR) to lead strategic HR operations across campus. You will partner with NSHE and campus executives to shape talent, compensation, and policy programs that align with the university mission.

The role emphasizes a proactive, data-driven approach, ethical leadership, and the responsible use of AI and technology to improve service delivery and workforce planning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, psychology, business, or a related field.
  • At least seven (7) years of HR administration experience, including at least five (5) years as a supervisor of professional HR staff.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local HR laws and regulations.
  • Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to the HR team in talent acquisition, operations, employee relations, engagement, and development.
  • Oversee a six-member HR team including directors and coordinators.
  • Develop and align HR policies and practices with NSHE and Nevada State University goals.
  • Manage HR budgets and ensure compliance with laws and internal policies.
  • Lead EEO/AA, Title IX, ADAA, and other regulatory programs across campus.
