Job summary

Association Acumen seeks an experienced Association Director to lead two medical associations (one international in scope), combining strategic board partnership with hands-on operational oversight. This role provides leadership for small staff teams, coordinating activities, delegating responsibilities, and ensuring association objectives are met efficiently and effectively.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and at least three years of senior-level nonprofit management experience.
• Certified Association Executive (CAE) preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership, supervision, communication, organization, and sound judgment.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, improve systems, solve complex problems, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Strategy, governance, and finance: lead both associations, advise boards, coordinate elections, create board agendas/minutes, oversee budgets and contracts.
• Membership and education programs: direct recruitment, onboarding, staff oversight of education programs, and events including conferences and CME accreditation.
• Revenue growth and communications: secure sponsors/exhibitors, oversee publications, websites, and marketing campaigns.
• Finance and operations: develop annual budget, financial reporting, staff oversight, ensure responsive customer service, travel 3–4 weeks/year.
