Job summary

Qualifications

• 4 year college degree REQUIRED.
• Analytical and technical skills to understand business practices and automation opportunities.
• Intermediate computer skills and understanding of electronic processing.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with internal and external contacts.

Responsibilities

• Identifies and recommends suppliers by researching parts, equipment, machinery, services, and materials availability.
• Conducts supplier site visits and evaluates production capability, performance, delivery, and other key criteria; may complete supplier certification.
• Purchases parts, equipment, and materials by preparing RFQs and issuing purchase orders with approved suppliers; maintains lead times.
• Evaluates bids for standard and non-standard items; negotiates price, delivery, quality and service; develops alternate sources.
• Monitors and evaluates supplier performance; warns of supplier failures that may delay production or delivery.
• Resolves shipment quality discrepancies by mediating supplier/manufacturing issues and arranging conferences.
• Negotiates and settles damage claims, rejections, and returns; provides materials information and prepares reports.
• Participates in continuous improvement activities and cost-reduction efforts.
• Complies with federal, state, and aerospace regulations; adheres to policies and procedures.
