Job summary

The ALS Association is seeking a Manager, Advocacy Engagement and Mobilization to advance its mission through direct advocacy, coalition engagement, and public affairs initiatives. This remote role supports day-to-day federal and state advocacy efforts, manages campaigns, and strengthens relationships with policymakers and partner organizations.

The ideal candidate has strong communication, project management skills, and a passion for helping people living with ALS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
• Experience in government relations or health-care policy.
• Strong understanding of federal/state legislative processes.
• Excellent written and verbal advocacy materials.
• Experience with advocacy tools (Quorum, FiscalNote, VoterVoice).
• Detail-oriented self-starter with ability to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Support the execution of federal and state advocacy strategies and policy campaigns.
• Draft advocacy materials including alerts, fact sheets, blogs, talking points, and social content.
• Coordinate advocacy communications and monitor engagement metrics.
• Drive public affairs messaging to reinforce government affairs objectives.
• Assist in logistics for advocacy events, briefings, webinars, and meetings.
• Track policy developments, hearings, and legislation relevant to ALS and health policy.
• Support grassroots engagement, including recruitment, training, and mobilization of advocates.
• Provide administrative and project management support to the Advocacy & Public Policy team.
• Represent The ALS Association at meetings and coalitions as assigned.
• Perform other duties to support the team’s mission.
