Job summary

UWorld is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead core accounting operations, tax/compliance, financial reporting, and process improvements. You will report to the Controller and partner with the CFO and business leaders to maintain financial integrity.

This hands-on leadership role requires technical accounting expertise, strong team development, and the ability to drive improvements across budgeting, close, and reporting cycles in a fast-growing company.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Active CPA license required.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience in leadership roles.
• 5+ years of people management experience.
• Extensive experience with corporate income tax, multi-state payroll tax, and sales tax.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting.
• Experience overseeing month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closes.
• Experience managing external audits and working with tax advisors.
• Strong understanding of general ledger structure and financial statements.
• Experience with ERP systems (Sage Intacct, NetSuite, QuickBooks) and Excel.
• Big Four public accounting experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day general accounting activities and GL integrity.
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal policies.
• Manage tax compliance and tax registrations.
• Coordinate entity-level and consolidated financial reporting and audits.
• Improve accounting processes and internal controls.
• Partner with CFO and leadership on analyses and strategic projects.
• Develop and coach accounting staff.
