OpenAI is seeking an Account Director for Government to own a portfolio of state and local government accounts in the US. Based in Washington, DC or San Francisco, you will build strategic plans, drive AI adoption, and manage partnerships with CIOs, agency leaders, and procurement teams.

You'll lead opportunities from pipeline to close, collaborate with researchers and solutions teams, and maintain executive relationships while meeting consumption revenue targets in a hybrid work model with

Qualifications

• 10+ years selling enterprise tech to state/local gov or leading AI adoption in public sector.
• Proven track record of >$2M annual government revenue.
• Experience navigating procurement, RFPs, and government contracts.
• Strong communication with senior government executives.

Responsibilities

• Manage a focused set of key state/local government accounts.
• Own and execute comprehensive account plans.
• Lead government customers through AI adoption journeys.
• Collaborate with Solutions and Research Engineering on programs.
• Own and manage a consumption revenue target.
• Forecast and report consumption revenue.
• Monitor government landscape to inform roadmaps.
• Build executive relationships with CIOs and agency leaders.
• Collaborate cross-functionally across teams.
• Support recruitment and onboarding of gov-focused team members.
• Foster a proactive gov practice culture.
