Responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operation and direct supervision of assigned activities within the Stewarding department. Assists with overseeing department and/or shift(s) as assigned. Ensures daily operations and guest experiences meet expectations. Appropriately responds to and manages escalated departmental concerns and guest and/or employee challenges.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Assist with training, developing, measuring performance, disciplining, and scheduling department staff, as assigned.
- Work with the Executive Steward to determine areas of responsibility and ensure such areas are kept clean within health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with the Health Department.
- Inventory all small wares, china, glass, and silverware and maintain par levels.
- Ensure proper staffing levels are maintained based on business needs.
- Implement and ensure consistent execution of preventative maintenance programs.
- Set up and tear down banquet functions and catering events.
- Regularly communicate with back-of-house management to ensure smooth operations.
- Ensure staff has all necessary tools to perform their duties effectively.
- Handle the Executive Steward responsibilities when needed.
- Provide outstanding customer service in a timely manner to guests and employees.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- At least 2 years of experience managing within a Stewarding department.
- Experience in Stewarding management within the hospitality industry preferred.
- Working knowledge of kitchen equipment and sanitation guidelines.
- Experience managing within a union contract preferred.
- Effective communication and leadership skills in small groups and individually.
- ServSafe certification preferred.
- Moderate computer skills.
- Minimum age of 21 years.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal.
- Bilingual skills preferred.
- Obtain and maintain all required work cards.
- Verify right to work in the United States.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently push and/or pull up to 250 lbs.
- Frequently lift and/or carry up to 75 lbs. at various levels.
- Occasionally bend, reach, climb, squat, kneel, sit, communicate via radio, distinguish shades of color, and use dexterous tools or equipment.
- Frequently stand and walk.
- Constantly use hearing and vision.
Work Environment Conditions:
