Job summary

McFarland Johnson is seeking a motivated Drainage / Stormwater Engineer to join our Water Resources Group. You will work on transportation, bridge, and municipal projects, applying hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, drainage design, and environmental permitting from planning through construction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Water Resources Engineering.
• 2–5 years of experience in water resources, stormwater, drainage, or civil engineering.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within six months.
• Knowledge of hydrologic and hydraulic principles and stormwater design.
• Experience with modeling/design tools such as Bentley OpenRoads, OpenRoads Drainage and Utilities, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and HydroCAD.

Responsibilities

• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for roadways, bridges, and drainage systems.
• Support stormwater management and drainage design per regulations.
• Prepare calculations, reports, permit applications, and construction plans.
• Use H&H modeling, CAD, and GIS tools to support analysis and project delivery.
• Conduct field investigations and data collection.
• Support permitting efforts (stormwater, wetlands, floodplain, MS4/NPDES).
• Coordinate with regulatory agencies and multidisciplinary teams.
• Collaborate with engineers, planners, environmental scientists, and PMs.
