Job summary

McFarland Johnson is seeking a motivated Drainage / Stormwater Engineer to join our Water Resources Group. You will work on stormwater management, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, drainage design, and environmental permitting across transportation, municipal, and site development projects.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams from planning through construction, applying modeling, CAD, and GIS tools. A Bachelor's in Civil/Environmental/Water Resources Engineering and 2–5 years' experience

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources Engineering or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in water resources, stormwater, drainage, or civil engineering.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
  • Knowledge of hydrologic and hydraulic principles, stormwater management practices, and civil engineering design standards.
  • Experience with modeling and design tools listed in Qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for roadway corridors, bridges, drainage systems, and stormwater management.
  • Support design of stormwater management and drainage infrastructure per regulations.
  • Prepare calculations, technical reports, permit applications, construction plans, specs, and cost estimates.
  • Use H&H modeling, CAD, and GIS tools for analysis, design, documentation, and project delivery.
  • Conduct field investigations, site assessments, and data collection.
  • Support permitting efforts including stormwater, wetlands, floodplain, and MS4/NPDES requirements.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies and multidisciplinary teams.
