Job summary

Sarasota County is seeking a Lot Drainage Specialist (Compliance/Maintenance Specialist III) to review drainage plans during building permit reviews and conduct on-site inspections to ensure compliance with regulations. The role supports Land Development Inspectors and reviews site development and right-of-way permits.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma and 4+ years inspecting experience, valid Florida driver’s license, and may pursue DEP certifications within 12 months.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or its equivalent and 4+ years of total experience in inspecting.
• Valid Florida driver's license at the time of hire.
• Bonus: Florida DEP Stormwater, Erosion, and Sedimentation Control Inspector Certification or ability to obtain within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Review all lot drainage plans submitted to Land Development as part of the building permit process for compliance with the Unified Development Code.
• Provide on-site inspections of private, public, and county-owned property; ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, statutes, and County ordinances.
• Offer backup support for Land Development Inspectors in their inspection activities.
• Provide support in the review of site development permit plans and right-of-way use permits.
