Job summary

NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) seeks a Construction Project Manager for the Stormwater Permitting Unit at its Queens headquarters. The role focuses on responding to complaints about stormwater discharges, inspecting construction sites for permit compliance, and ensuring projects meet hydrology and hydraulics requirements.

The position requires a strong knowledge of stormwater operations, ability to communicate clearly with applicants, and experience managing multiple tasks

Qualifications

• High school diploma and five years of full-time construction project management/inspection experience with projects costing at least $300,000 per year.
• One year of experience plus a bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, construction, or construction management.
• One year of experience plus a valid professional license (PE/RA/LA).
• A combination of education and experience totaling five years.

Responsibilities

• Review site civil drawings for compliance with City rules and the Construction General Permit.
• Understand stormwater systems during and after construction, including hydrology and hydraulics.
• Inspect sites during and after construction for compliance with permits.
• Inspect post-construction requirements of a Stormwater Maintenance Permit.
• Check as-built plans to verify conformance with rules.
• Assist in field surveys as instrument person or chief of party when needed.
