Job summary

NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is seeking an Environmental Engineer, 03, to serve as Stormwater Permitting Deputy Director. Under supervision, you will perform civil engineering work in the field and office, focusing on MS4 planning, review, and enforcement for stormwater permits in NYC.

Responsibilities include directing review of stormwater pollution prevention plans, field inspections, and coordination with staff to ensure compliance with regulations.

Qualifications

• Valid New York State Professional Engineer License and four years of full-time environmental engineering experience. Master’s degree may substitute one year.

Responsibilities

• Performs mathematical calculations.
• Supervises interns, assistant engineers, and project managers.
• Oversees review of stormwater pollution prevention plans and field inspection staff.
• Checks as-built plans for conformance with rules.
• Participates in field surveys as instrument person or chief of party as needed.
• Inspects premises and witnesses soil testing and construction for compliance.
• Reviews maps, plans, drawings, and specs for permits and compliance.
• Prepares reports and correspondence and maintains records.
