Job summary

City of Fort Worth is seeking an Engineering Technician II to inspect City-owned drainage channels and private SWFMA locations, document findings, and coordinate with owners and City staff on maintenance and capital needs.

The role focuses on asset management for stormwater facilities, with reporting to the Senior Engineering Technician and responsibilities including inspections, reporting, and data collection from drone surveys.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Engineering, Architecture or related field.
• Two (2) years of increasingly responsible technical engineering experience in drafting, project design, review/analysis of projects for conformance of established standards, and/or land surveying.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine field inspections of Stormwater Facilities Maintenance Agreement locations and City-owned drainage channels each year to assess condition and maintenance needs.
• Identify problem locations and support the development of maintenance and restoration work orders.
• Work with private property owners about maintenance responsibilities associated with Stormwater Facility Maintenance locations.
• Assist in prioritizing capital and maintenance activities by documenting field conditions and updating asset management records.
• Perform frequent inspections of high-risk or historically problematic channel locations to help mitigate flood risk.
• Coordinate with maintenance teams to support the annual maintenance capacity and create work orders.
• Serve as visual observer during drone inspections and assist with data collection for areas inaccessible by foot.
• Prepare clear and timely inspection reports and communicate findings to engineering, maintenance staff, and private property owners.
