Job summary

The City of Fort Worth Transportation & Public Works Department seeks a Sr. Construction Inspector to supervise inspection teams, review plans, and oversee utility, storm drainage, and paving projects in conformance with contracts.

The role emphasizes attention to detail and strong collaboration with contractors, utilities, and the public. Qualified candidates will have a HS diploma with relevant coursework, 3 years of inspection experience, a Texas Class C Water Distribution certification, and

Qualifications

• HS diploma with college coursework in Engineering, Architecture, Construction, or related field.
• Three years of construction inspection experience on public works projects.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Texas Class C Water Distribution certification from the State of Texas.

Responsibilities

• Lead staff, prioritize and assign work; ensure staff is trained in inspection methods and equipment use.
• Review proposed change orders for scope and pricing; negotiate and finalize change orders.
• Schedule and attend pre-construction meetings and final inspections.
• Conduct site inspections on complex projects; drive City vehicle.
• Ensure compliance with building/construction standards, codes, and regulations.
• Act as liaison between contractors and the public in relation to projects.
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal, management, and communication skills with developers and City staff.
