Job summary

The City of Plantation, Florida is seeking a skilled Stormwater Maintenance Technician to perform inspections, maintenance, repair, and construction of municipal stormwater infrastructure. This non-exempt, AT-WILL position supports pump stations, canals, culverts, and related facilities while operating heavy equipment and ensuring safety compliance.

Responsibilities include routine inspections, record-keeping, emergency response support during storms, and collaboration with the Stormwater Crew

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; 2+ years in stormwater maintenance or related public works.
• Ability to read engineering plans, maps, and GIS data.
• Experience operating heavy equipment and commercial vehicles.
• Knowledge of safety standards and MS4/NPDES regulations.
• Willingness to work in varying outdoor conditions and emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and maintain stormwater infrastructure and drainage systems.
• Operate heavy equipment and vehicles safely.
• Clean storm drains, jet piping, and perform repairs.
• Assist with installations and reporting maintenance needs.
• Support emergency response during floods or storms.
• Keep records and comply with safety policies.
