Job summary

Metra in Illinois is seeking an Assistant Storehouse Manager in the Supply Chain Operations Division. The role focuses on inventory planning, replenishment, and safeguarding materials across the assigned storehouse while applying material management best practices.

You will collaborate with departments and vendors to ensure supplies meet demand, conduct audits, and prepare regular inventory summaries. The position requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent, 5+ years' experience, ERP/EAM

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related discipline, or combination of education/experience that equals 4 years in storehouse or materials management.
• Minimum five years of experience in storehouse or materials management.
• Experience with ERP, EAM, or other inventory systems.
• Knowledge of materials ordering, inventory control, and storekeeping methods.
• Knowledge of safety rules for industrial equipment and warehouse operations.
• Knowledge of inventory auditing and reconciliation processes.
• Strong written and verbal communication and ability to work with outside vendors.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Word/Excel).
• Proficiency with computerized inventory, purchase orders, and accounts payable systems.
• Ability to supervise staff.
• Ability to maintain records and prepare reports.
• Ability to work independently or on a team.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
• Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods.
• Willingness to travel within Metra's 6-county region.
• Ability to work flexible hours in the early morning, late afternoon, evenings, or weekends.
• IBM Maximo EAM and EPC preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with departments, users, and vendors to ensure material supplies meet user demand.
• Conduct inventory audits; reconcile discrepancies; implement service delivery improvements.
• May fill in for storehouse managers and supervise staff in their absence.
• Monitor storeroom and warehouse material usage; develop delivery schedules; expedite purchase orders.
• Review daily inventory audits; prepare daily, monthly, and yearly summaries.
• Coordinate team activities, assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide training.
• Promote safe work practices and maintain a safe work environment.
• Perform other duties as needed to meet organizational needs.
