Job summary

Metra is seeking an Assistant Storehouse Manager to oversee inventory planning and material management across multiple storehouses. You will collaborate with departments and vendors to ensure stock meets demand and operate within safety standards.

The role requires experience in storehouse or materials management and proficiency with ERP systems. Responsibilities include audits, reconciliations, purchasing, and staff coordination.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related discipline; substitution of education and experience may equal four years in storehouse or materials management.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in storehouse or materials management.
• Experience using ERP, EAM, or other computerized inventory systems.
• Knowledge of inventory ordering, inventory control, and storekeeping methods.
• Knowledge of safety rules related to industrial equipment and warehouse operations.
• Good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with vendors.
• Microsoft 365 (Word and Excel) proficiency.
• Experience with inventory, purchase orders, and accounts payable systems.
• Ability to supervise staff.
• Ability to maintain records and prepare reports.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Valid driver's license.
• Willingness to travel within Metra’s 6-county region.
• Availability to work flexible hours in early morning, late afternoon, evenings, or weekends.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with departments, users, and vendors to ensure material supplies meet user demand.
• Conduct inventory audits; reconcile discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
• May fill in for storehouse managers; monitor productivity, labor controls, and efficiency standards.
• Monitor storeroom and warehouse material usage; develop delivery schedules and maintain inventory.
• Prepare purchase requisitions and expedite open purchase orders.
• Review daily inventory audit reports and assist with daily, monthly, and yearly summaries.
• Coordinate team activities, assign tasks, and provide training.
• Promote safe work practices and maintain a safe work environment.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to meet organizational needs.
