Job summary

LHH is seeking an Assistant General Manager for its Indianapolis operation. This role leads storefront and front-of-house activities, partners with the distribution team, and develops employees to strengthen customer relationships and profitability.

You will drive growth, manage budgets and performance metrics, and collaborate with senior leaders on strategic initiatives in a growing, customer‑focused organization. Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Business, Operations Management, or Sales preferred.
• Minimum of 5+ years of operational leadership experience within the construction, building supply, and/or wholesale distribution industry is required.
• Must have experience managing the financial performance of a storefront operation, including P&L, expenses, margins, and profitability.
• Must have experience leading cross-functional teams within contractor-focused or business-to-business environments.
• Ideal candidates will have experience developing and executing strategies for revenue and market growth.
• Ideal candidates will have experience managing customer relationships and supporting business development efforts.
• Strong financial, analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with a positive, hands-on leadership approach.
• Adaptable and comfortable operating within a fast-paced, growth-oriented organization.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Support the overall leadership and daily performance of the Indianapolis facility
• Help manage financial results including revenue, margins, expenses, budgets, and profitability
• Establish performance expectations and hold team members accountable for achieving measurable goals
• Evaluate local market conditions and identify opportunities for new business and customer growth
• Build lasting relationships with key customers, contractors, business partners, and community organizations
• Partner with sales personnel to strengthen existing accounts and pursue new business opportunities
• Monitor operating and financial metrics and implement corrective actions when performance falls short
• Recruit, train, coach, evaluate, and develop employees across multiple functional areas
• Promote a team-oriented culture focused on accountability, integrity, service, and continuous improvement
• Resolve escalated customer and employee concerns quickly while maintaining productive relationships
• Identify opportunities to improve productivity, customer service, efficiency, and overall operating performance
• Ensure compliance with company policies, safety requirements, employment practices, and applicable regulations
• Collaborate with senior leadership to establish objectives, priorities, budgets, and growth initiatives
