Job summary

Meijer Inc. in Michigan is seeking a capable leader to plan, direct and supervise day-to-day store operations. You will mentor staff, drive customer service, and align with company standards to maximize sales and efficiency.

The role requires 2-3 years of retail experience and at least 1 year in management, including cross-department rotations. You will develop team members, handle disciplinary actions, and promote safe practices in a fast-paced store environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent required.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other areas of the store such as meat, bakery, produce and deli; also customer service and product flow experience is helpful.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate to team members with clear direction.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict by addressing root causes.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to teach suggestive selling.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor team members in all areas including SDITs and hourly positions.

Responsibilities

• Plan, directs and supervises team members in day-to-day store operations.
• Serves as mentor and coach for all team members.
• Implements strategies to improve customer service and drive store sales while meeting customer needs.
• Maintain staffing through hiring to meet staffing needs.
• Promote succession planning and development paths; participate in promotion decisions.
• Document and apply disciplinary actions; make discharge recommendations.
• Responsible for P&L, achieving sales and reducing shrink for the department.
• Model exceptional, fast and friendly customer service and communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in meetings.
• Mentor and coach team members to exceed customer service and sales goals; ensure area meets Meijer standards.
• Ensure team is trained in all job aspects and has completed required training.
• Spend majority of time in-store communicating with customers and team members.
• Promote a safe work environment and maintain reliable attendance.
