Job summary

Meijer is hiring for a store leadership role in Michigan. This position focuses on staffing, training, and executing sales plans while delivering outstanding customer service. You will lead teams, manage staffing, and drive performance in a fast-paced retail environment.

The ideal candidate brings prior retail management experience, strong communication skills, and a proven ability to mentor staff toward meeting sales and service goals while ensuring safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent required.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other areas of the store such as meat, bakery, produce and deli; also customer service and product flow experience is helpful.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate to team members in the organization in a way that provides clear and precise direction.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict and by addressing root cause issues.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions.

Responsibilities

• Provide courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and team members to maintain a positive company image.
• Staffing, selection and hiring to meet staffing needs.
• Promote succession planning by identifying development needs and promoting capable team members.
• Document and apply disciplinary actions and make recommendations concerning discharge.
• Manage P&L, achieve sales goals and maintain shrink for the department.
• Model exceptional, fast and friendly customer service.
• Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in all team meetings and conversations.
• Mentor and coach team members to exceed customer service and sales goals while maintaining Meijer standards.
• Ensure the team is thoroughly trained and has completed all required training.
• Spend majority of time in-store communicating with customers and team members to ensure exceptional service.
• Promote a safe work environment and maintain reliable attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
