Job summary

Olson Oil Co. is seeking an Assistant Manager for its NEW West Side Location to lead daily operations and deliver exceptional customer service.

You will supervise staff, manage shift duties, and handle bookkeeping tasks while ensuring policies and safety standards are followed. The ideal candidate has leadership experience in retail or fuel environments, strong communication skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
• Leadership experience in fast-paced retail, food service, or fuel.
• Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Judgment and problem-solving for customer or employee issues.
• Proficient with Word/Excel; basic email/internet use.
• Strong math and 10-key; detail-oriented.
• Meet deadlines, multitask, and work under pressure.
• Stand 8–10 hours; lift up to 50 pounds.
• Valid driver's license and access to reliable vehicle; proof of insurance.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly, outgoing, and professional customer service, resolving concerns effectively.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with customers while ensuring team members deliver fast, friendly service.
• Lead by example in a fast-paced environment; stay self-motivated and adaptable.
• Motivate, direct, and support store staff to meet performance expectations.
• Reconcile shift reports; complete daily bookkeeping and bank deposits accurately.
• Delegate tasks and ensure completion of shift duties.
• Maintain communication with Store Manager and Sales Associates.
• Ensure company policies, safety standards, and procedures are followed.
• Assist with recruiting, training, evaluating, and managing employees.
• Support monthly store meetings and customer service initiatives.
• Maintain knowledge of POS systems and transaction devices.
• Assist with daily operations including reporting, banking, pricing updates, safety compliance, fuel equipment, and facility management.
• Understand and apply federal, state, and local laws related to retail operations and employment practices.
