Job summary

Assistant managers at T & M Hardware & Rental are responsible for upholding a positive brand image by delivering outstanding customer service and supporting the store manager in leading a productive sales team. They continually expand knowledge of retail and leadership practices.

The role includes opening/closing duties, supervising staff, inventory, customer issue resolution, merchandising, and ensuring safety and policy compliance.

Qualifications

• Outstanding customer service skills and a professional attitude.
• Ability to supervise other employees and leadership fundamentals.
• Knowledge of the store products with willingness to learn.
• Organized, self-starter who can think independently and solve problems.
• Strong math, reading, writing, and communication skills.
• Ability to operate the store’s POS and basic MS Office tools.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service in person and on the phone, assist with add-on sales.
• Assist store manager in opening and closing the store.
• Foster teamwork and maintain high standards of customer service.
• Assist in taking regular inventory of stock.
• Respond to customer complaints and resolve.
• Manage store operations and staff in the manager’s absence.
• Ensure compliance with policies and safety standards.
• Assist in merchandising and signage setup.
• Participate in ordering inventory and pricing.
• Train and monitor sales associates and cashiers.
• Assist staff with daily tasks as needed.
• Identify shoplifters and act per policy.
• Attend and occasionally lead staff meetings.
• Suggest improvements to business processes.
