Job summary

Macy's is seeking a Manager, Business Administration to lead essential store operations and administrative functions. You will collaborate with Store leadership to optimize staffing, hiring, and the store environment, while overseeing budgets, payroll, and P&L responsibilities.

The role emphasizes interviewing, hiring, coaching, onboarding, and performance management of direct reports, with a focus on profitability and efficient processes across the store.

• Proficiency in managing operational activities, P&L oversight, and driving profitability.
• Experience leading hiring, onboarding, and retention strategies to reduce turnover and boost engagement.
• Ability to lead training initiatives, ensure high adoption, and align with central updates.
• Excellent collaboration skills and strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Energetic team player focused on customer service and maintaining a clean, safe store environment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Store Manager and leaders to drive Store Scorecard results, focusing on hiring, operations, and store environment.
• Maintain profit through effective staffing, weekend compliance, and controllable expenses.
• Lead the in-store hiring process: interview, select, and coach peers across hiring functions.
• Interview, hire, train, coach, develop, evaluate, and discipline direct reports.
• Set work strategies, manage colleague performance, and address complaints.
• Direct onboarding and orientation to improve candidate experience and learning curve.
• Ensure rapid learning, increase engagement of new hires, and reduce turnover rates.
• Lead training and deployment of tech and store-wide process initiatives, including annual training.
• Ensure high adoption, capture user experience needs, and coordinate with Central Team on updates.
• Manage hours, payroll and non-payroll expenses, cash office, and inventory.
• Maximize sales and minimize expenses and oversee monthly P&L including selling costs and wage benchmarks.
• Develop action plans to drive store profitability and partner with Workforce Central on staffing.
• Maintain staffing levels to meet targets and ensure a well-run shopping environment.
• Address store environment issues and safety with Facilities.
• Work a flexible retail schedule, including days, evenings, holidays, and weekends.
• Foster an inclusive environment with authentic connections to colleagues, customers, and communities.
