Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an Assistant Store Manager in Shreveport, LA to help run a customer-focused store. You will assist the Store Manager with supervising staff, merchandising, deposits, and daily operations to maximize profitability and minimize losses.

You’ll handle stocking, cashiering, and planogram compliance while ensuring outstanding service, safety, and adherence to company policies. This role develops leadership and operational excellence at the store level.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities in a retail environment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety instructions and procedures.
• Ability to perform basic math and cash handling tasks.
• Experience with cashier functions and generating reports.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposit control.
• Ability to drive own vehicle to the bank for deposits.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; greet and assist customers, and operate cash register and scanner to itemize the customer's purchase.
• Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling employees and training.
• Follow processes to manage merchandise, including stocking, unpacking, restocking and rotating merchandise on shelves and building displays.
• Assist in maintaining inventory levels by controlling damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork, and facility controls.
• Assist in implementation and maintenance of planograms; ensure merchandise is presented per established standards.
• Assist in ensuring financial integrity of the store through cash control procedures; authorize refunds and overrides, count tills, and deposit money.
• Assist with management of the store in the Store Manager's absence.
