Job summary

Family Dollar in Virginia Beach is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help with store operations, customer service and team development. You will assist with day-to-day store activities, support the Store Manager, and ensure the store runs smoothly.

This part-time role emphasizes strong communication and leadership, with a focus on customer service, safety, and staff development in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read and interpret directives is required.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred
• Physical ability to lift up to 55 lbs and perform repetitive movements as needed
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment with good problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions.
• Organize merchandise from delivery to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and maintain store communications and records.
• Maintain storefront fixtures and displays for promotional effectiveness.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged goods, payroll, scheduling, and cash handling.
• Keep store areas well-stocked and organized per company standards.
• Protect store assets including cash and adhere to safety policies.
• Support Store Manager in training and developing Store Associates.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and respectful environment for customers and staff.
• Ensure bathrooms and floors are clean and stocked; restocking as needed.
