Family Dollar in Chesapeake, VA is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development. This part-time role involves assisting with daily functions, organizing merchandise, and ensuring a clean, safe store environment.

You will help train Store Associates, handle basic payroll/scheduling duties, and maintain promotional displays while delivering friendly service to customers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read and explain directives is required.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environments preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks including walking, standing, bending, and lifting.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and problem-solving skills required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives related to store activities and maintain store displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged goods, payroll and scheduling records, and loss prevention.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets including store cash.
• Adhere to safety policies and ensure staff follow procedures.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and respectful environment for customers and staff.
