Job summary

Family Dollar LLC in Chicago is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help with store operations, customer service and team development.

You will support opening and closing procedures, organize merchandise from delivery to stockroom to floor, and assist customers with questions or concerns while maintaining a welcoming environment.

This position emphasizes staff supervision, training, and adherence to company policies, with focus on safety, efficiency, and promotional displays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical duties.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational and communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns they may have.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom to sales floor.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of store fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise and loss prevention.
• Supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a clean, well-stocked store environment and ensure safety policies.
• Adhere to policies and procedures and ensure compliance.
