Job summary

Family Dollar is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support daily store operations, customer service, and staff development. You will assist with opening/closing, merchandise transfers, and compliance with corporate directives while maintaining clean, well-stocked areas.

The role requires strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills, with prior store management experience in retail or grocery settings preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent or higher; ability to read and explain operational directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform frequent walking, standing, and lifting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; written communication is required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions.
• Help organize and transfer merchandise between delivery truck, stockroom, and sales floor.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and store communications.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping, and loss prevention.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked store areas and organized stockroom.
• Protect and secure store assets, including cash.
• Ensure adherence to safety policies and procedures and supervise/train store associates.
• Foster a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Ensure store cleanliness and restock bathrooms, floors, and trash.
• Execute other duties as assigned.
