Job summary

Family Dollar in Moorefield, WV is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development. You will assist with daily functions, help customers, organize merchandise, and participate in opening and closing procedures.

You will also help train Store Associates, oversee inventory, cash handling, and maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming store environment in a fast-paced retail setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read, interpret operational directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks as required.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment is required.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational and problem-solving skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays for store-front effectiveness.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, process damaged merchandise, payroll scheduling, and loss prevention.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to policies, safety guidelines, and ensure staff follow procedures.
• Support the Store Manager in supervising, training, and developing Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers, associates, and leaders.
• Keep the store clean, restock bathrooms, sweep and mop floors, take out trash, and keep areas neat and presentable.
• Other duties as assigned.
