Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking a store manager to oversee all store processes and staff, including ordering, receiving, stocking, presentation, selling, staffing, and support.

The role requires recruiting, training, evaluating performance, and enforcing safety and company policies. You will ensure proper staffing, regular openings/closings, and accurate inventory control while driving customer service and store profitability.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• One year of management experience in a retail environment (preferred).
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams and procedures.
• Strong math skills for simple calculations and pricing.
• Knowledge of cash handling, cashier accountability, and deposit control.
• Effective oral and written communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling and termination practices including legal compliance and internal processes.
• Good organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.

Responsibilities

• Recruits, selects, and retains qualified employees per laws and company policy.
• Trains staff; conducts evaluations; identifies gaps and provides coaching or termination as needed.
• Makes recommendations regarding employee pay rate and advancement.
• Communicates expectations; coordinates safety and policy meetings.
• Ensures store is staffed and opened/closed as required; operates at least two openings and two closings weekly.
• Evaluates operating statements to identify sales trends, profitability, and turn; spotlights expense control opportunities and shrink.
• Reviews ordering plans and inventory management; follows up on BSR/cycle counts weekly.
• Facilitates staging, stocking, and storage of merchandise per company processes.
• Ensures merchandise presentation, pricing, and signage meet established standards.
• Maintains accurate inventory by controlling damages, markdowns, scanning, and paperwork.
• Maintains store financial integrity via cashier accountability and cash control procedures.
• Provides superior customer service leadership.
• Keeps store clean, organized, and safe for customers and staff.
• Ensures store is equipped with necessary tools to perform tasks.
• Follows company SOPs, handbook, and communications; ensures compliance.
• Completes all paperwork and documentation on time.
