Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager to oversee all store operations including staffing, ordering, receiving, stocking, merchandising and selling. Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform basic math calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, percentages).
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control.
• Familiarity with IBM cash register functions to generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Interpersonal skills for team leadership and customer interaction.
• Understanding of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling and termination practices including compliance with laws.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select and retain qualified employees per federal/state laws and company policies; ensure store is properly staffed.
• Provide training for employees; conduct performance evaluations; identify gaps and address them.
• Make recommendations regarding employee pay rates and advancement.
• Communicate performance, conduct and safety expectations; coordinate meetings and events.
• Open and close the store as needed, ensuring proper procedures are followed.
