Job summary

Food Lion in Virginia Beach, VA is seeking a Store Manager to oversee daily operations, lead and develop associates, and drive sales while upholding safety and food safety standards.

You will hire and train staff, manage performance, coach and motivate the team, ensure customer service excellence, and maintain budgeted financial results.

As Store Manager on Duty, you will cover all duties when the Store Manager is absent and uphold company policies and procedures across the store.

Qualifications

• College degree or equivalent preferred.
• Department Manager or equivalent experience required.
• Strong understanding of store operations and total store merchandising techniques.
• Excellent interpersonal, customer service and communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.
• Good judgment solving problems, making decisions, handling complaints, arbitrating disputes and resolving grievances.
• Desire and ability to lead and manage associates throughout multiple departments.
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Must meet minimum age requirements to perform specific job functions.
• Must be accredited by the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals or similar accrediting organization as a "Certified Food Safety Manager" or will be required to attend company provided training and have the ability to achieve accreditation within the first 90 days of employment. Accreditation must be maintained while employed in a position requiring accreditation

Responsibilities

• Hire, train, and develop associates.
• Manage performance through coaching, appraisal and disciplinary efforts.
• Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflecting our Guiding Principles, Core Values, Vision and Strategy.
• Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with emphasis on fast and easy customer service.
• Ensure proper control of all store funds and company assets.
• Observe and correct unsafe conditions that could cause accidents.
• Observe and ensure compliance with security, safety, and food safety standards.
• Use company tools such as financial reports, ACIS, scheduling, productivity, CAO, and business information systems.
• Support achievement of store budgeted financial and operating results.
• Serve as Manager on Duty when Store Manager is not present.
• Assist the Store Manager with day-to-day operations of the entire store.
• Model customer service and instill it in all associates.
• Adhere to all company guidelines, policies and standard practices.
• Manage and develop associates to ensure adherence to Standard Practices.
• Maximize sales through excellent customer service and minimize shrink through standard practices.
• Ensure store conditions, customer service and satisfaction, product quality, freshness, availability, variety and execution of all policies.
• Ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
• Ensure staffing schedules across departments meet business needs.
• Interact with associates to ensure understanding of Food Lion expectations and training.
• Complete CBT, Training Packet and Training Aid courses.
• Treat all store information as confidential.
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
